Intentional

Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
— John 4:4-6

Devotional:

Jesus sets the example of an evangelist in his interaction with the Samaritan woman. Right from the beginning you can see how he intentionally goes through Samaria and sits by this well in expectation of meeting this woman. Jesus created the opportunity to speak to her. We need to be intentional about creating or walking into opportunities to speak to and serve people around us. We will miss so many opportunities to bless people if we aren’t listening to the Holy Spirit’s direction.

Prayer:

  • Ask God to show you opportunities to speak to and serve people.

Reflection and Response:

Sometimes, being intentional means getting out of our comfort zones and routines. This could mean changing where we eat lunch at work or sparking a conversation with someone in line at the store. You never know how you could be a blessing to someone’s life! What opportunities will you create?
