Committed to Surrender
Devotional:
After Christ returns to our hearts He comes to dwell in us. The definition of abode or dwelling place in Greek is a permanent residence. Jesus came to take up permanent residence in our hearts. What could be more intimate and complete than to have the God who created the heavens and the earth and who holds the waters in the palm of His hand take up permanent residence in you. Most incredible of all, it is his delight to make his residence in you. "And my delights are with the sons of men." (Proverbs 8:31). I will never forget a Christian comedy sketch of "One time blind" it is this girl And in the comedy sketch Jesus would come and sit down and at first she would leave him there but then she wanted to pull him out of the chair and take control of her life again. As they would say in our spiritual house from the altar, "That doesn't happen here does it?". The people of Israel did it all the time, they forgot the commitment of the covenant with their Lord, the Lord sent them leaders, liberators, judges, prophets, kings, but they always as we say in Puerto Rico, they always pulled back to the mountain. When Jesus came he changed everything, he said in John 15, some words that I find revealing and that can be transforming for your life to break that pattern of lack of commitment. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. verse 2 every branch in me that bears no fruit he will remove, and every branch in me that bears fruit he will pruned. And further on it says that without him we can do nothing. Abiding allows you to be pruned, cleansed and connected to the vine. So today I ask you to make a commitment that will sustain you for eternity. The Word of God tells us that what we say with our mouths binds us and commits us. Tell God, yourself and the enemy your commitment to remain with a surrendered heart.
Let’s Pray:
(I leave this one to you to do according to your relationship with the Lord).
