Day 1: God Declares New Things
Welcome, church family! Today marks the beginning of our 21-day devotional journey titled The Year of New Beginnings. Over these next few weeks, we will focus on how God is inviting us into a season of renewal, restoration, and preparation. Our theme for today is 'God Declares New Things,' based on Isaiah 42:9. Let’s explore how God’s declaration of new beginnings applies to us individually and as a church.
Scripture:
"Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth, I tell you of them." - Isaiah 42:9
Refelction:
Isaiah 42:9 reminds us that God is always moving forward. He is not bound by the past, nor does He want us to be. In this passage, God speaks through Isaiah to declare that the old things—the trials, battles, and even accomplishments of the past—have fulfilled their purpose. Now, He is ushering in something new.
This doesn’t mean that the past is forgotten or wasted. It means that God uses it as a foundation for what’s next. For us at Habitation Church, this is a prophetic reminder that the years of hard work, faithfulness, and sacrifice from 2022 to 2024 have prepared us for the new season God is now declaring.
Application:
Take a moment to think about your personal life. Are there things from your past that are holding you back? Maybe it’s a regret, a disappointment, or even a past success that you’re clinging to. Today, God is inviting you to trust Him with those things and embrace the 'new' He is speaking over your life.
Write down one area where you need to let go of the old to make room for the new. Pray over it, and ask God to give you faith to embrace His declaration for this year.
Prayer:
"Lord, thank You for the new things You are declaring over our lives and our church. Help us to release what is behind us and step boldly into the future You have prepared. Open our hearts to trust Your promises and embrace this season of new beginnings. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
